Right you are: Shirley Collins is a treasure! Also love the Provensen endpapers: where are they from?

The endpapers are from The Fireside Book of Folk Songs, edited by Margaret Bradford Boni and illustrated by Alice and Martin Provensen, 1947
Ah, that is why they are so familiar: I grew up with that book. They complement the other pictures very well.
